7 Foods to Prevent a Deadly Blood Clot

A blood clot is a case of a compacted mass of blood changes from liquid to semi-solid. Although blood clotting usually occurs to prevent excess bleeding when there is injury, etc., some forms of blood clots can be pretty damaging to your well-being.

One of these is called Deep Vein Thrombosis (DVT), which occurs when blood clots become lodged deep within the legs’ veins. It can be very deadly as it prevents blood flow to the affected area, and in the worst scenarios, it can travel to the heart or lungs to become life-threatening.

Well, the good news is DVT can be prevented and even treated. Improving your diet is one of the preventable measures you can take to avoid DVT. So, in this article, we’ll be discussing seven foods that can help you prevent deadly blood clots in your body.

1. Water.

Yes, drinking a lot of water can help prevent blood clots. Dehydration is one of the top causes of the development of a blood clot. If there is no sufficient amount of water in your blood mix, it becomes thick and increases clotting risk.

According to the U.S. National Academies of Sciences, Engineering, and Medicine, men should consume at least 15 1/2 cups of fluids daily while women should consume up to 12 1/2 cups. This may sound a bit high, but you should make sure to drink a lot of water as much as possible every day.

One way to be sure you’re getting enough water is by the color of your urine. If it is dark yellow, brown, or orange, then you are not consuming enough, but it is light yellow or clear, then it’s fine.
